Weathervane removal and Replacement

The wooden Weathervane Post is splitting and allowing rainwater to enter the Bell Chamber. The removal and replacement of the Post is to be carried out in 2 stages. Stage 1, saw through the post at roof level, and lower the Post to the ground. Temporarily cover the area where the Post is removed.   Intermediate, have the roof inspected by a Structural Engineer from Wright Consulting. After Inspection the Structural Engineer will recommend a design for the replacement Post and supporting structure. This to be approved by the St Albans Diocesan Advisory Committee (DAC). The roof area where the old post was removed can now be permanently sealed with lead.   Phase 2. Once the design has been approved by the DAC the Weathervane Post and a new Weathercock would be installed.
