All Saints’ Bells.
After Easter, the bells at All Saints’ will be silent for about two months whilst work is undertaken in the tower to replace and preserve two seventeenth century bells which will be hung stationary in the tower and fitted with chiming mechanisms operable from the church. The other eight bells will be removed from the tower on Monday 29th April and transported to Whites of Appleton where they will be retuned together with the two replacement bells. Whilst the bells are away, a volunteer working party will clean and paint the bell frame and install a supplementary timber floor beneath the bells to reduce the sound level in the ringing room. The project should be completed in June 2019.
